Golden Leaf Spotlight on Historical: Janmarie Anello

New Jersey Romance Writer’s annual “Put Your Heart in a Book” Conference is less than a month away!  To help share our excitement, we’ll shine the spotlight on one of our Golden Leaf finalists each day leading up to the conference.

The Golden Leaf is awarded annually for excellence in romance fiction by authors who are NJRW members or in Romance Writers of America (RWA) Region One.  Winners will be announced during the NJRW Put Your Heart in a Book Conference award ceremony on October 16, 2015.

Spotlight on Historical: “A Scandalous Rogue,” by Janmarie Anello (Self-published)

Lord Beaudeville greeted the two older women before approaching Olivia, his eyes darkening, his gaze intent upon her face. As his sister performed the introduction, Olivia’s hands curled into fists. She hated the way he made her feel, vulnerable and stupid and irresponsible in her actions. She hated that he was a dissolute nobleman, as steeped in vice as her father. She hated the way his brows lifted and the twitch in his lips grew into a sensuous smile, as if he were aware of the treacherous attraction tugging at her heart, causing her breath to burn her throat.

He took her hand in his, used his long fingers to unfurl her fist, sending an undesirable shiver of awareness up her arm, despite the glove covering her skin. “Miss Hart,” he said, bending over her hand, as if to place a kiss on her knuckles. “What a pleasure to see you again.”

The inexplicable desire she felt to thread her fingers through his dark hair bewildered her.

“Lord Beaudeville,” she said, hoping she didn’t sound as breathless as she felt.
