Registration for New Jersey Romance Writers’ Put Your Heart in a Book (PYHIAB) Conference is well underway. This year we’re hosting the conference on October 16th and 17th at the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel in Iselin, NJ. Each year we do this conference, our brand and reputation only gets stronger. This event is proving to be just as spectacular, especially with such fabulous speakers including Kerrelyn Sparks, Beth Ciotta, Julia Quinn, and Margie Lawson! In case you haven’t signed up for the conference yet, here are the top ten reasons you should jump on the bandwagon and get it done before registration closes on October 4th.
REASON ONE: Sarah MacLean and Eileen Dreyer will be giving a total of four workshops between them with each doing a double session and single session workshop. Nationally acclaimed speakers, their workshops are always standing room only! These are two authors you don’t want to miss! It’s your chance to pick the brains of these two fabulous and highly knowledgeable authors. The wealth of experience between them will leave you in awe!
REASON TWO: We have over 15 editors and agents who will be taking pitches, and the list keeps growing! They range from all aspects of the industry and from many different companies, such as Tor/Forge, Carina Press, Kensington Publishing, St. Martin’s Press, Harlequin, Corvisiero Agency, The Rubin Agency, JABberwocky Literary Agency, Dystel and Goderich, Bookends, Inc.,Spencerhill Associates, and more! Here’s your chance to get face-to-face with these individuals and pitch your book! Heck, you want an appointment? The only way to do it is to register for the conference. But look at lucky you….you may get two!
REASON THREE: NJRW’s very own authors are giving workshops, too! Joanna Shupe, Laura Kaye, Nancy Herkness, Terri Brisbin, Diana Cosby, and Susan Meier are just a few of many who you’ll see giving their invaluable experience up front and personal.
REASON FOUR: Networking! Here’s your chance to shimmy up close and rub shoulders with your favorite author, your biggest mentor, a favorite agent or editor, bloggers, NJRW Board members, or even, others just like you! Bond with other attendees and ask those pesky questions one on one.
REASON FIVE: Workshops. Have you noticed that Bestselling authors Jim and Nikoo McGoldrick (w/a May McGoldrick and Jan Coffey), Dee Davis, Kathleen Long, Terri Brisbin, Laura Kaye, and many more are giving workshops? No? Make sure you check out the full line up here: http://www.njromancewriters.org/workshop-schedule.html.
REASON SIX: You don’t want to miss it! It’s as simple as that! In just two days you’ll get great workshops, can sit in front of an editor from a major New York publisher pitching that story you have just polished and hoping you hear those magic words, “send me the full!”. You’ll be able to network, talk about your muse and your writing life, all with people who understand, and just get away from everyday responsibilities. You can do all that, plus get an autograph at the book fair from your favorite or new-to-you author!
REASON SEVEN: Julia Quinn has written over 30 books and novellas. NJRW is now over 30 years old. Neither one of us looks a day over 20 😉 Come say congratulations!
REASON EIGHT: Anonymous Author. Ever wonder what the knee jerk reaction to your novel is when being read by an editor or agent? Well, look no further, because on Saturday we’re featuring just that! Come sit and listen to what editors and agents are saying about your story! For more information on how to submit to Anonymous Author, please visit http://www.njromancewriters.org/conference-special-events.html.
REASON NINE: SUPPORT! Are you a newly published author, just becamePRO, or just starting your first romance story? Pursuing a bigger range of readers or thinking about changing publishing houses? You’ll get all the support you need from a multitude of writers at the conference with all experience levels at the PRO and PUB Retreats or just by hanging out in the lobby or bar. Here is your chance to complain, ask questions, and boast about that new sale!
REASON TEN: It’s the closest and cheapest way you’ll find yourself in a mini-RWA conference. The number one destination for romance conferences each year? RWA’s National Conference. Wanna know what the number two destinationis? Well look no further…
